It is on the tongues of everybody, in the news it is the latest hype and sensation.
But really what are the chances of this being something really bad?
All around the world governments and cities are preparing for or railing against the certainty of the pandemic effects of the COVID-19 corona virus.
So if you get infected are you one nail away from sealing the coffin or are your chances going to be 50/50 or what?
The problem is that the news outlets are escalating the reality and the possibility of death seems to be certain if you contract the virus.
I have heard people say that it is no different than the common flu (also a corona virus) and I have heard the medical and pandemic experts say this is something different and that you should really be worried and proactive.
Well I have been looking at the statistics every day and the place I go to look is the John Hopkins website that has been set up to keep people informed of the known cases, deaths and recoveries of COVID-19.
If you look it like a leader board then China is way out in front with the likelihood of anybody catching basically zero. Well zero if you look at the sheer number of infections.
That should not come as any surprise as China is the most populous country in the world. But as a percentage that is less than 0.005% whereas Italy is second on the leader board with 9700 infections has a much smaller population and is therefore showing an infection rate of .0015% again not everybody in town but still three times that of China.
So what does this mean? In China the mortality rate of the COVID-19 is around 3.8% of the people infected whereas in Italy it is around 5%. China is way out in front when you look at the worldwide mortality compared to how many have succumbed to the sickness in China, China makes up 78% of the worlds deaths from this current day plague.
These number are devastating from the point of view that so many are suffering and dying from this virus, but on the bright side (dark as it may be) more people are dying from the common flu every day than will ever die from COVID-19.
One way or another you should make sure that you are covered and make sure that no matter how far away from home you are that you will always get the best medical attention.
